What are they smoking?

Now I'm a libertarian sort, classical liberal, you want to get off your head in the comfort of your own home, well, that's nothing to do with me. Now I also agree that many others don't think the same way. OK, that's fine as well, society would be so boring if we all thought the same way (we really don't want the whole country to be like the Labour Party now, do we?).

But there really is something about these drugs things that turns people into gibbering maniacs.

Illegal drug use is in decline in England and Wales with cannabis use at its lowest level for a decade, according to a report.

Now I think that's a very silly thing to do, yes, but that's only my opinion. What raises this to lunacy is this:

Despite the fall in use of cannabis, the Government said it was determined to press ahead with reclassifying the drug from Class C to Class B in January.

That fall in usage coincided with (I've no evidence that it was caused by, you understand) the downgrading from B to C.

So to get usage even lower they're going to upgrade it from C to B.

They've got to be smoking some really good stuff around that cabinet table.
